What are the different types of research? Secondary research is information and data collected or available from another source. Primary research is data that you design and collect first hand.

The client wants to open a coffee shop and/or lunch place in your community.  You are hired to provide information to help them determine:

  • Is this a feasible idea? Can your community support a new coffee shop and/or lunch place?
  • What type of coffee shop and/or lunch place would the community want?

Research Required

  • Inventory of coffee shops/lunch restaurants – Secondary Descriptive Research
  • National trends for coffee shops/lunch restaurants – Secondary Literature Search
  • Local Patrons research – Primary Descriptive Research
  • Survey of Other Needed information – Primary Survey Research
